ICARE device to be sold internationally, developed with UNL's Nelson
Madonna Rehabilitation Hospital has partnered with SportsArt Fitness Inc., a leading manufacturer of professional grade fitness equipment, to launch international distribution of the hospital's Intelligently Controlled Assistive Rehabilitation Elliptical Training System that can help patients with disabling conditions learn to walk again.
Researchers at Madonna spent three years developing the ICARE in collaboration with Carl Nelson, UNL associate professor of mechanical and materials engineering and biological systems engineering. Read more about this partnership in Today@UNL.

Report: Nebraska ag production complex is key to economy
Nebraska is blessed with a "profoundly significant and diverse agricultural production complex" that gives it great economic momentum as a leader in the ever-expanding global food economy, according to a new report from the University of Nebraska-Lincoln.
The report uses statistics from 2010 to paint a picture of the prowess of the state's ag-based economy. Its percentage share of the state's total economy is unmatched anywhere except South Dakota. Read more about this report in Today@UNL.
University Foundation names Hastings new CEO

Brian Hastings, a senior executive at Ohio State, has been named president and CEO of the University of Nebraska Foundation. The foundation's board of directors met Friday afternoon to approve Hastings' appointment.
Hastings brings more than two decades of experience in higher education fundraising, along with strong expertise in implementing universitywide advancement strategies. He most recently served as executive director of Ohio State University's $2.5 billion fundraising campaign, in addition to his duties as senior associate vice president at the university. Students dream big in CBA academy
UNL's College of Business Administration hosted the inaugural DREAM BIG Academy July 8-11, which brought soon-to-be high school seniors from across the state to Lincoln to explore college life and business concepts first-hand. The academy emphasized diversity by showing students how their unique qualities benefit them in a positive way.
DREAM BIG is an acronym for many of those strengths: Develop, Risk, Empower, Achieve, Maximize, Build, Innovate and Grow. Read more about this event in Today@UNL.
UNL team to promote green infrastructure in Omaha
The Environmental Protection Agency will support a UNL team to evaluate the effectiveness of the Saddle Hills neighborhood's green infrastructure in metropolitan Omaha.
UNL and partners, including the City of Omaha and the Nebraska Forest Service, will assess green infrastructure practices by creating a water quality assessment database and developing a stormwater mobile application for smartphones and mobile devices in two watersheds -- the Little Papillion Creek Basin and Cole Creek Basin within the Omaha city limits. The application will allow users, such as local residents, youths, master gardeners and city staff, to learn about ways to reduce stormwater runoff. Read more about this project in Today@UNL.
UNL launches Nebraska App
UNL has launched the Nebraska App, a suite of mobile applications that makes essential university resources available on mobile devices. Students can check grades, access course content and browse the course catalog. They can access the public directory and get in touch instantly, keep tabs on Husker sports, find places on the campus map, stay informed with the latest campus news, watch videos, and even listen to podcasts of popular lectures in iTunesU.
"UNL is moving services to the where the students are in terms of devices and network access"," said Mark Askren, Chief Information Officer. "Students now have a much more powerful connection to UNL via their mobile device." Read more about Nebraska App in Today@UNL.
