Prepare now for future NSF funding opportunity

Nebraska EPSCoR anticipates that a Request for Proposal for the National Science Foundation's EPSCoR Track-2 award will be issued early next summer for proposal submission in August 2013. Each EPSCoR state may submit one proposal for a collaborative research project with another EPSCoR state.
Funding available for each proposal is $6 million, to be split among the partners over 3 years. At this early stage, it is assumed that all NSF STEM funding areas will be eligible for this grant until otherwise indicated. Read more about this opportunity in Today@UNL.

Lied ticket sales strong; season packages assure best selection
The Lied Center for Performing Arts season tickets sales for the 2012-13 Season are already resulting in near sell-outs for several of this season's most popular events. Patrons waiting for the mid-August opportunity to buy single tickets to performances including Frankie Valli, Mannheim Steamroller, Who's Live Anyway and the political season spoof Capitol Steps may have limited or no available seating.
The best way to get tickets to these performances today is to create a custom season ticket package by selecting any four separate performances. Season ticket holders qualify for early seat selection before single tickets go on sale, and up to a 20 percent discount on ticket prices. The Lied Center ticket exchange policy makes it easy to exchange tickets for a different event if conflicts arise with performances purchased in advance. In addition, season ticket holders are not charged the regular exchange fee for this service. Read more about Lied events in Today@UNL.

Sheldon seeks volunteer docents
The Sheldon Museum of Art is accepting applications for volunteer museum docents. Since 1964, Sheldon docents have provided engaging tours of the museum's collection and exhibitions. Docents are more than volunteers. They're educators and art lovers who support the museum's mission by being ambassadors for the arts.
Applicants do not have to have a background in art history, be an art teacher, or know anything about art. They only need an interest in art and the ability and desire to interact with people of all ages and backgrounds, including children. Education about the arts comes as part of the docent training sessions, which are required for new volunteers. Read more about becoming a docent at the Sheldon in Today@UNL.
