Courier Services to roll out electric cars
A pair of Mitsubishi i-MiEV electric cars will begin purring across campus on Friday. The "green" vehicles — named 110 and 220 in homage to voltage standards — will be used by Courier Services to make campus deliveries.
Patrick Barrett, director of Transportation Services, said the rising cost of gas fueled UNL's move to an electric alternative. "Really this is a nice way for UNL to go green in another area," said Barrett. "We use fuel-efficient subcompacts now. But it will be nice to reduce our emissions further through this electric option." Read more about this development in Today@UNL.

'Humanities on the Edge' series opens today
A speaker series at UNL that has found a niche in exploring cutting-edge humanities research while uncovering insights into contemporary issues is back for a third season. The "Humanities on the Edge" series kicks off Oct. 11 with an examination of reality in America, including the influence reality television has on society and democracy.
Since its 2010 launch, the series has featured speakers from across the humanities disciplines who are engaged in groundbreaking theoretical research yet have a flair for intertwining these intellectual pursuits with popular culture and current events that makes their arguments relatable to a broader audience. This season will focus on the relationship between politics and aesthetics. It aims to examine the way performance or artistic presentation can be used to provoke political debate. Human trafficking conference opens
Researchers, government officials, non-governmental organizations and law enforcers from around the world will soon converge on UNL to take up a mission they began years ago: to end human slavery.
UNL will host the fourth annual Interdisciplinary Conference on Human Trafficking Oct. 11-13. Known as the pre-eminent academic conference on the subject, the gathering will feature events open to the public along with dozens of interactive presentations for registered conference participants. The goal is to build public awareness about human trafficking while providing a forum for the presentation and discussion of research and professional work and giving those closest to the issue an opportunity to network and learn from each other. UNL.edu now formatted for all devices

The Internet and Interactive Media group of University Communications and Information Services has concluded the first phase in its effort to provide full support to all devices - desktops, laptops, smartphones and tablets - by implementing a suite of web technologies collectively known as 'responsive design.' This week, the internal and external homepages were re-launched as 'responsive' designs.
You can see the effects of responsive design in your desktop browser by simply re-sizing your browser window (the page will reformat as the window is narrowed), or by viewing on your tablet or smartphone. Please use the 'feedback' links at the bottom of the page if you would like to let us know of any issues. Thank you.
