Rocket team competes at NASA student launch
A team of UNL engineers is in Huntsville, Ala., through April 21 aiming to go "one mile high" with the rocket they built for the 2013 NASA student launch competition.
This is the second year the UNL Rocket Team is competing in the University Student Launch Initiative. The contest features more than 30 college and university teams. In the 2012 competition, the UNL team placed third for altitude closest to the goal. Read more about this competition in Today@UNL.

'Sunday Scientist' explores stormwater management
April showers bring May flowers — and sometimes floods, destruction and contamination of the water people depend on. On April 21, the University of Nebraska State Museum's "Sunday with a Scientist" program will explore stormwater management.
The "Running Rain: Keep it Clean! Slow it Down! Soak it In!" event is 1:30 to 4:30 p.m. in Morrill Hall. The event will feature hands-on activities and demonstrations led by UNL researchers. Read more about Sunday Scientist in Today@UNL.

Carnegie scientist to discuss new space explorations
Pluto may be small - so small, it's no longer considered a planet - but it has been a big player in scientific news, as the New Horizons Mission is expected to fly through the Pluto system in July 2015.
Susan Benecchi of the Carnegie Institution of Washington and Planetary Science Institute, will discuss the New Horizons Mission and Pluto in a 7 p.m. April 19 talk in the Nebraska Union Auditorium. The lecture is free and open to the public. Read more about this talk in Today@UNL.

NET to show updated documentary by McCoy, Mitchell
An updated version of the award-winning documentary "They Could Really Play the Game" shows at 7 p.m. April 19 on NET1 and NET-HD, Nebraska's public broadcasting television station.
Barney McCoy, associate professor of broadcasting, produced the documentary. Bruce Mitchell, a lecturer in advertising, was primary videographer, while other Journalism and Mass Communications faculty contributed voiceovers. Read more about this documentary in Today@UNL.

American Chamber Players concert is Saturday
Led by NPR commentator and violist Miles Hoffman, the American Chamber Players will perform an evening of trios and quartets for strings, flute, and piano at 8 p.m. April 20 in the Sheldon Museum of Art.
The event opens with a pre-concert lecture at 7:30 p.m. in Sheldon's Ethel S. Abbott Auditorium. The concert is followed by a reception with food, beverages, and an opportunity to meet the performers. Read more about this performance in Today@UNL.

Astronomy Day will be celebrated April 20 from 9:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. at the University of Nebraska State Museum in Morrill Hall. The event features prizes, educational laser shows, and activities about space, science and more. Admission is free for UNL faculty, staff, students and immediate family (with a valid NCard).
Participants in Astronomy Day will learn about planets, optics, telescopes, physics, robotics, space travel and nanotechnology. The event will feature information presented by a variety of groups including UNL's Mueller Planetarium, Nebraska Center for Materials and Nanoscience, Department of Physics and Astronomy, Microgravity University team, Chapter of the American Institute of Aeronautics and Astronautics, and Department of Engineering. Ballroom dance showcase is Friday
The UNL Ballroom Dance Company Spring Showcase will be featured in 4 and 7:30 p.m. performances April 19 in the Nebraska Union Ballroom.
The showcase will include a variety of dance, from East Coast swing to Argentinian tango. Tickets, $10 for adults and $5 for students, are available from any member of the UNL Ballroom Dance Company or at the door prior to a performance.
Libraries accepting course reserves for summer sessions
The UNL libraries offers faculty and graduate students the opportunity to put library books, journal articles, personal copies of books and other items on reserve for student use. Reserve lists are processed in the order received and take one to four business days to be completed. Reserve lists turned in by May 10 will have items processed by the first day of UNL's summer sessions. Reserve requests made after the deadline will be processed in the order received.
