UNL finalizes Saturday commencement plans with changes to ceremony

UNL has finalized plans to distribute degrees during an abbreviated May 4 undergraduate commencement ceremony in Memorial Stadium. The adjustments will allow all participating UNL graduates the opportunity to walk across the stage during the ceremony. Graduate commencement exercises for May 3 were to be in Memorial Stadium, but have been moved indoors. Read more about both commencement ceremonies in Today@UNL.

UNL announces Saturday commencement plan in case of weather cancellation

University of Nebraska-Lincoln officials are monitoring the weather forecast for Saturday's scheduled 9:30 a.m. undergraduate commencement in Memorial Stadium. A decision to go ahead with the planned, abbreviated ceremony or to cancel the outdoor event will be announced by 6 a.m. Saturday. It will be posted at http://www.unl.edu/, shared on UNL social media channels and communicated to media. Read more about commencement plans in case of inclement weather.

Nebraska Mosaic sponsors art exhibition

The Nebraska Mosaic course, offered by the College of Journalism and Mass Communications, is sponsoring an art exhibition featuring the work of three young immigrants from the Middle East. The "New Americans Spring Art Showcase" is on display at the Lux Center for the Arts, 2601 N. 48th St., through May 31. A First Friday celebration is 5 to 7 p.m. today (May 3). 22 ROTC cadets to receive military commissions

Twenty-two cadets in the UNL Reserve Officers' Training Corps program will receive military commissions in ceremonies at the Nebraska Union on May 3 and 4.

The ceremony for nine new second lieutenants in the Air Force will be at 5 p.m. May 3. Ceremonies on May 4 will begin at 1 p.m. for eight new second lieutenants in the Army and at 1:30 p.m. for four new Navy ensigns and a Marine Corps second lieutenant. All ceremonies are free and open to the public. Rooms will be posted. Read more about these efforts in Today@UNL.

Sheldon transforms into 'Naked Museum' to celebrate 50th anniversary

To celebrate its 50th anniversary, the Sheldon Museum of Art is being transformed into "The Naked Museum." For the months of May and June, Sheldon's collection of 12,000 objects will be placed in storage to focus on its greatest artwork: the museum's landmark Philip Johnson–designed building.

Visitors to the Naked Museum will experience Sheldon through a variety of activities and performances, including architectural tours, craft circles, dance, music, poetry, theater and yoga. 'Gimme The Loot' opens at the Ross, 'The Company You Keep' continues

"Gimme The Loot", the story of two graffiti artist friends on a quest to tag a major New York City landmark, opens at The Ross Media Arts Center. Robert Redford's drama "The Company You Keep" continues for a second week. "The Company You Keep" is rated R and plays through May 16, "Gimme The Loot" is not rated and plays through May 9.
