Exhibit examines major changes in fashion, 1890-1930
Period dress and reproduction, focusing on the major changes between 1890 and 1930, are the subjects of "Constructing History: Structures and Silhouettes," an exhibition at the Robert Hillestad Textile Gallery. The exhibition is open through June 28. The gallery is on the second floor of the Home Economics Building.
Molly J. McPherson curated the exhibition in partial fulfillment of her thesis work in the Department of Textiles, Merchandising and Fashion Design. Donations from Leota Cahall of Wilber are the driving element in the exhibition. McPherson, working with professor Barbara Trout, identified additional garments from the Historic Costume Collection donated by Katie Best, Meg Lauerman and the former UNL Teachers College. New graduate program combines gerontology, interior design
UNL and the University of Nebraska at Omaha have launched a cooperative graduate certificate program in gerontology with a concentration in interior design. The program, designed for professionals in health care, real estate, engineering, architecture and interior design, is available online and on campus. The 18-credit hour program draws on UNO expertise in gerontology and UNL expertise in interior design.
Design issues surrounding the aging population ranks in the top 10 biggest concerns expressed by members of the design profession in a 2012 survey according to DesignIntelligence magazine. Read more about this program in Today@UNL.
Search committee training seminars offered in June
The final Equity, Access and Diversity search process seminars before the fall 2013 semester will be held in June. No seminars will be offered in July and August. Faculty and staff are encouraged to review their search process status before registering for a seminar. Two types of seminars are offered — orientation and update.
The orientation seminar is 90 minutes and covers the basics of search committee training. Individuals who complete the seminar receive a three-year certification to serve on search committees. Anyone can register for an orientation seminar. Read more about these seminars in Today@UNL.

Tornado procedures available online
Following the recent tornadoes in Kansas and Oklahoma, including a tornado that devastated Moore, Okla., on May 20, the UNL administrators are encouraging faculty, staff and students to review campus procedures in the event of a tornado. Information about what steps are to be taken in the event of a tornado is available at the UNL Emergency website.
In addition, officials encourage those who have not yet signed up for UNL's campus alert system to do so at the UNL Alert website. UNL Alert is a mass notification system that sends text messages and emails to the device and address a user designates.
'Angels' Share,' 'Ain't In It For My Health' play the Ross
"The Angels' Share," a new comedy by Ken Loach and winner of the Jury Prize at the 2013 Cannes Film Festival, opens May 24 at the Ross Media Arts Center. Also showing is "Ain't In It For My Health: A Film About Levon Helm." Read more about these films at The Ross website.
