Time to break out those grills and practice your BBQ skills! Nebraska 4-H is offering a new 4-H Chicken BBQ Contest at this year’s Nebraska State Fair! Learn more at http://go.unl.edu/4h-chicken-bbq. Contest will be Sunday, Aug. 28 at the Raising NE Building. Deadline is Wednesday, Aug. 10 at 8 p.m. Exhibitor must be 4-H members, 14-18 years of age as of January 1. All participants will receive a free grill and the winner will receive a $750 scholarship from Nebraska Poultry Industries! Each participant will grill four chicken thighs with their special technique on an outdoor grill (supplied) over charcoal. They will also do an oral presentation on facts such as the nutritional value of chicken in our diet, the chicken industry in Nebraska, etc. Judges will also be judging the grilling process as well as tasting the finished product.
