Time to break out those grills and practice your BBQ skills! Nebraska 4-H is offering a 4-H Chicken BBQ Contest at this year’s Nebraska State Fair! Learn more at http://go.unl.edu/4h-chicken-bbq. Contest will be Sunday, Aug. 27, 10 a.m.-2 p.m. at the Raising Nebraska Building. Deadline for entries is Thursday, Aug. 10 at 8 p.m. Contestants must be 4-H members 14-18 years of age as of January 1 and enrolled in either a Poultry or Foods and Nutrition project. All participants will receive a free grill and the winner will represent Nebraska at the National Poultry Contest this fall in Louisville, Kentucky!
Each participant will grill 3 chicken thighs with their special technique on an outdoor grill (supplied) over charcoal. They will also do an oral presentation on facts such as the nutritional value of chicken in our diet, the chicken industry in Nebraska, etc. Judges will be judging the grilling process as well as tasting the finished product.
