Before the 4-H program year wraps up, it's important for youth and clubs to reflect on their year and measure their success. This could include reviewing projects, community service activities and impacts, as well as any general operational processes. What went well? What did not go well? How should we implement changes?
You can encourage youth to reflect on their 4-H year through a variety of ways, such as sharing out loud, drawing a picture, scrapbooking or documenting the success of their year. Challenge youth to reflect further than the exhibits entered at the fair or ribbons won. Instead, encourage them to reflect on the skills gained and how they plan to use their newly gained skills and experience in the future.
Looking for fun ways to celebrate your club's success? Consider a swimming party, picnic or another fun experience unique to your community.
This may be a good time to complete or review your Club of Excellence annual summary form, see https://lancaster.unl.edu/4h/programs/Nebraska-4H-Club-Excellence-Summary.pdf. Lancaster County deadline is Jan. 3.
