Nebraska 4‑H will recognize top science exhibits at the Nebraska State Fair with a Premier Science Award. Exhibits in all static exhibit areas that incorporate or demonstrate concepts from the areas of 4‑H STEM (science, technology, engineering or applied math) will be considered for the award. Up to three top exhibits will be chosen to receive a cash award, sponsored by the Nebraska 4‑H Foundation. 4‑H members will be scored on how well they communicate their use of the Scientific Method or Engineering Design Process while completing their exhibit.
At the Lancaster County Super Fair, 4‑H judges may recognize up to two static exhibits with a county‑level Premier Science Award. These do not need to be self‑nominated.
To apply for the Premier Science Award at the State Fair, 4‑H members must self-nominate ONE exhibit from any static exhibit project area entered at a county fair that qualifies for State Fair, and submit an online application at https://go.unl.edu/NSFPremierScienceApp by Friday, Aug. 15 at 12 p.m. If a 4‑H’er was awarded a county‑level 4‑H Premier Science Award, they will still need to self‑nominate their exhibit for State Fair — Extension staff may not nominate exhibits.
