“Quilting for a Cause” Workshops begin September 22

4-H’er, Ellie Babcock, is offering the first of four quilting workshops to be held at the Lancaster Extension Center at 444 Cherrycreek Road starting on Saturday, September 22 from 8 a.m.- noon. Subsequent workshops will be held on Saturday, October 6 (8 a.m. - noon), Saturday, November 3 (2-5 p.m.) and Sunday, November 18 (1:30 – 4:30 p.m.). Register before each workshop by calling the Extension office at 441-7180 or email kristin.geisert@unl.edu.

These workshops are part of Ellie’s Diamond Clover Project. Pre-cut quilt top kits will be available at each workshop and ready to be sewn together. The finished quilt tops will then be donated to Quilts for Kids, an organization that gives quilts to ill children in hospitals.

All youth ages 8-18 of any sewing skill level are welcome, including those who have never sewn before. Bring a sewing machine, neutral colored thread, pins and a pair of scissors. A few office sewing machines are available upon request. Donations of cotton quilting fabric and unopened packages of batting are welcome. Questions may be directed to Kristin Geisert at kristin.geisert@unl.edu.
