Raising Nebraska is debuting the latest addition to its website in time for the holiday season – recipes. Experience Coordinator Sarah Polak has been collecting the recipes presented at Raising Nebraska during the 2018 and 2019 State Fair for posting on-line. “On-line seemed the best venue for us to share this information. We have so many fairgoers who request the recipes that we frequently run out of paper copies. We also have fairgoers that are unable to attend a particular demonstration, want to share the recipe with a friend, or are interested in new ways to prepare Nebraska products.” There are recipes on line for every taste and season of the year. The most requested recipes are for the Churros with Chocolate Sauce and the Sorghum Chocolate Chip Cookies. For the Fall season, Polak recommends looking at the Butternut Squash Risotto, Broccoli Bacon Mac and Cheese, and Husker Bacon recipes. Raising Nebraska plans to continue to posting the recipes in the future, creating an expanding resource for those interested in new and different recipes. Please visit Raisingnebraska.unl.edu/recipes to access these recipes.
In addition to the recipes from the Nebraska State Fair, the website features the recipes campers made at Kool Kravings Camp this summer. The Nebraska State 4-H Camp residential camp experience located near Halsey, Nebraska, invited Raising Nebraska to bring hands-on, Nebraska-based food experiences to their campers. The most popular recipe was the No Churn Banana Split Ice Cream. The 2019 experience is being expanded for 2020 with Kravin’ Waves Camp. Kravin’ Waves campers will travel to Raising Nebraska to cook in the kitchen, learn from professionals, and spend the night under the lights of the indoor pivot.
