Jordan Soliz, professor of communication studies, joins the podcast this week. As a child and teen growing up in a multiracial, interfaith family, Soliz realized that much of the past research on families didn’t reflect his own experiences. So he set out to broaden the understanding of multiracial, multiethnic and interfaith families in the United States. Soliz talks with Bruce about the experiences of America’s multiracial families, his research into both beneficial and problematic communication within these families, and how the multiracial identity of vice presidential nominee Sen. Kamala Harris is shaping conversation around the 2020 presidential race.
