Maddi Smith

Maddi is a Junior Communication Studies and English double-major.

How did you find Communication Studies?
I actually found Communication Studies through my mom who was also a Communication major. I didn't totally choose Communication through that though. I took a Communication class with Dr. Duncan and I was totally enthralled with the concepts and learning about how people talk and communicate with each other.

What do you like most about your Communication Studies major?
I love learning about how people communicate and meeting each of the interesting professors and how the professors use their knowledge about communication in their teaching styles.

What has been your favorite class?
My favorite class I have ever taken is either the one I am in now COMM 283 Interpersonal Communication with Dr. Kellas and Toni Morgan or COMM 209 Public Speaking with Jaclyn Marsh. Both classes are amazing! In Dr. Kellas' class I love learning about how people talk to each other and how interpersonal communication effects your interpersonal relationships. In Jaclyn's class I loved the community of it and how she teaches public speaking in a calm, fun, and in an open manner.

What are some cool experiences you've had here on campus?
I just recently joined Village RHA and that has been a fun experience meeting new people. I am also apart of a Bible study on campus which I love going to and just having that community and friends.
