Dear Students,
I hope this announcement finds you all well. With the semester underway, I’ve gotten to meet many of you. Amid your busy schedules, I encourage you to connect with me about the major/minor, your class schedule, as well as any concerns or challenges you may be facing. Just talking about your experience itself can offer clarity, motivation, and direction.
Regarding Spring 2019, are you wanting to devote more time thinking through your classes? Do you want to avoid the Priority Registration crowds in October? Don’t wait till Priority Registration walk-ins to plan your semester – make a September appointment. Then when enrollment opens in October, you’ll be ready to go!

Rescheduled September CAS Kick-Off
Unfortunately, the September 4th New Student Welcome Kick-Off was canceled to the rain. Don’t fret! The Academic and Career Advising Center moved the event to September 11 from 3:00pm-4:30pm in the walkway area between Oldfather Hall and Avery Hall. There will be free ice cream and t-shirts, and you will be able to mingle with CAS advisors and your peers. I encourage you to attend, have some ice cream, and establish connections within the College of Arts and Sciences!

COMM 202 Tutoring Opportunity
The Student Life Complex on City Campus is looking for tutors for COMM 202. There would also be an opportunity for other courses as well. Tutors for the SLC set their own availability and all tutoring is done by appointment. All appointments take place in our facility on the west side of Memorial Stadium. Undergrad tutors are paid $10 an hour. In addition, our program is certified by the College Reading and Learning Association’s International Tutor Training Program Certification and tutors have the opportunity to become individually certified (looks great on a resume!) We require all tutors to be at least sophomore standing at UNL. We also hire graduate students who are not currently employed as GA’s and non-student professionals from the community. A minimum of a 3.0 GPA is required. If you are interested, please email Andrea at aeinspahr@huskers.com or see our ad on UNL Handshake.
