Kathleen Esser

Meet Freshman Kathleen Esser, Communication Studies and Business Administration double major!

How did you hear about Communication Studies?
Through my academic advisor and by simply connecting with peers on campus.

What do you like most about being a Communication Studies major?
Sure, any profession allows you to meet people. But with ours, literally every single person we come in contact with becomes a networking opportunity. Not on purpose, it just happens…it’s in our blood or something. As soon as we meet a new person we automatically connect the dots to see how we could potentially help each other with opportunities. Networking is part of us and, if you ask me, it is one of our best features. We are walking, talking, and breathing opportunities.

What is your favorite class?
My favorite class is COMM 101, because even though it is the basic communication class, we are examining and analyzing various types and forms of communication.

What kinds of things have you become involved with here on campus?
I am currently in UPC Nebraska which is a rad organization that plans all the entertaining and educational events on campus! From watching Holes on the green space to hosting a phenomenal Homecoming Concert, UPC Nebraska has already taught me so much and I can't wait to see what else we'll bring to campus.

What are your plans post-graduation?

As of right now, I plan to earn a degree in Communication Studies and Business Administration in the hopes to become a Human Resources Manager that creates cultures for companies. Any well-paying job would be amazing, but the ultimate goal is to be the Human Resources Manager for Vogue.
