President's Letter

As we enter the Winterim, there are a few more opportunities for us to meet and you will see those in this newsletter. Please join us online for our regular meeting on the third Wednesday of the month. This month would normally be our Graze & Mingle event; however, since we are not meeting in person, Ryan has some fun planned for us to still meet online. Also look for the professional development activities scheduled throughout the year. This year we are offering these all at no cost to you. We have had some wonderful learning opportunities so far and more are planned for the coming year.

Please take this time to show appreciation for your employees and coworkers. Since we cannot meet in person for sharing holiday cookies or a departmental lunch, you may need to find more creative ways to show appreciation. This may be the year for a personal hand-written note or card. When showing your appreciation, be sure to be specific about what you are appreciating them for. This may be related to a specific action or goal they reached. Include how that action affected the department or a project in a good way. By tying appreciation to something tangible, it means so much more than just, “atta boy!”

I would like to thank the UAAD Board for all they have done to accommodate a very odd year in planning and presenting. We had several new people join the board this year and I commend them for stepping up and embracing their roles remotely. We cannot do any of this without a strong and enthusiastic team that wants to bring the best to you. Thank you, Andrea, Karen, Lori, Tony, Deb, Ryan, Melanie, Keith, Marnie and Jenny!
