President’s Letter

On April 21, 2021, we met to have a discussion on the future of UAAD. This discussion was prompted by the lack of volunteers/nomination for unfilled leadership positions for the 2021-22 academic year. After a lot of discussion about the need for UAAD, a motion was made to suspend the bylaws to go on hiatus for one year. Current UAAD employee liaisons whose term is set to expire would be allowed to extend for another term if they desire. During the hiatus, a group of volunteers would meet to learn more about a possible staff governance. It is believed this would help elevate the need for volunteers from our shrinking membership. Depending on that outcome, UAAD would reorganize and potentially amend the bylaws accordingly. All members are welcome to share their thoughts by emailing ranelle@unl.edu. All comments are being gathered and held for evaluation when UAAD reconvenes.

On Friday, June 11, all UAAD members are invited to come to the UNL Dairy Store for our one and only in-person event. You will have the chance to vote on putting UAAD on hiatus and you will also receive a FREE scoop of ice cream. Voting will be open from 3:00-4:00 p.m. As long as the weather is nice, we’ll try to gather outside. I look forward to seeing your faces in 3-D soon.
