UAAD is now accepting nominations for the 2016 Carl A. Donaldson Award for Excellence in Management and the Floyd S. Oldt Award for Exceptional Service to the University. The award recipients each receive a plaque, a $1,000 stipend and a one-year membership to UAAD. These awards are presented annually to Management (non-faculty) staff at the UAAD Annual Founder’s Day meeting in February 2016.

Do you know a deserving staff member? Take the time now to nominate them! Eligible nominees are any non-faculty, managerial/professional employee who has been at UNL for five years or more, with 50% or greater FTE, and holds management responsibilities. The Floyd S. Oldt Award for exceptional service was created in 1992 from a bequest by University of Nebraska Alumnus who graduated in 1920. The Floyd S. Oldt Award was designed specifically to honor a UNL employee in a managerial/professional position. Nominees will be evaluated on:
• exceptional service and dedication to UNL;
• creativity and innovation; and
• other activities such as involvement in UAAD, participation on University committees, and community service.

The Carl A. Donaldson Award for excellence in management was created in 1972 to honor Carl A. Donaldson, graduate of the University of Nebraska, and founder of the University Association for Administrative Development (UAAD). The Carl A. Donaldson Award was created to recognize UNL’s excellent managers in non-faculty positions. An excellent manager is one who:
• demonstrates superior planning, decision-making, and organizational skills
• promotes a teamwork attitude and creates an atmosphere that encourages positive work relationships
• knows when and what to delegate
• communicates effectively and resolves conflicts skillfully
• displays a commitment to self-development and professional growth
• supports subordinates’ personal and professional development by providing educational opportunities and fair evaluations.

Nomination Procedure:
• Submit the nomination form that can be found online.
• Nomination Committee will verify eligibility and provide additional information.
• If Nominee is eligible, Nomination Committee will provide nominator additional forms to complete including letters of recommendation and supervisor questionnaire.
