*Due to lack of space to sit and limited time prior to our tour of the facilities, we will not be announcing this as a brown bag lunch meeting. We ask that you try to be at the Complex/North Stadium no later than 11:45 as we will need to begin the business meeting promptly at that time. The tour begins at noon.

Proposal to Phase out UNL Campus Blue Lights-Charlotte Frank
*UNL Police Chief Owen Yardley has reached out to all UNL campus organizations (faculty, staff and students) to discuss the UNLPD proposal for phasing out the campus emergency blue phones. The phones were purchased/installed in the 1990’s; at a time when technology was a primary concern in campus safety. The UNLPD has been tracking use of the phones since 2011 and found 15 phones were used out of approximately 100 in a 4-year time period. None of the calls made were emergencies. The use of cell phones, over time, has replaced the technology that these phones were intended to provide. With the replacement and maintenance costs associated with each phone, the Police Department is proposing phasing them out as each is scheduled to be replaced. The UAAD Board has voted in favor of the proposal to phase out the phones and we now need to have our members vote. You will be receiving an electronic ballot this week. We will tabulate the votes and combine with our Board recommendation as representative of UAAD on this UNL safety issue.
