"Navigating Differences" Professional Development opportunity

The Professional Development Committee of the University Association for Administrative Development has an opportunity to bring a valuable in-depth training on Navigating Differences to UNL. Navigating Difference is designed to assist participants in expanding their skills in working with diverse audiences. The goals for the training are to assist participants to:

• Become more aware of their own personal and organizational cultures;
• Examine how their personal and organizational cultures affect their ability to work across difference in both negative and positive ways;
• Build skills to increase competencies in working with others who are different.

This two-day workshop, with a registration cost of only $45, will be led by Jackie Guzman, 4-H Extension Educator and Unit Leader; Maria De Guzman, Associate Professor Child, Youth & Family Studies; and Cathy Johnston, Extension Educator, 4-H Youth Development.

This in-depth and extended workshop includes:

• The cost of taking the Intercultural Development Inventory (IDI)
• A one-on-one coaching session
• An accountability partnership
• A one-year follow-up re-assessment

Coffee and snacks will be provided at the session. Participants will be responsible for their own lunches.

This is an invaluable training to help members of the university community better serve the diverse community at UNL with culturally competent and linguistically appropriate programming and services. The workshop will be limited to 30 participants, but we need to commit to a minimum of 20. We would like to determine the level of interest for this training and all that it includes. If you are interested and would be willing to commit now, please respond below. We appreciate your reply no later than January 10.

The workshop will be offered on one of the following sets of dates:
a. March 20-21
b. March 21-22
c. April 24-25
d. April 25-26
