Exciting Opportunities Ahead | Two Committee Chair Positions Open

Hello all- I hope that your semester is off to a great start. As we begin the semester, I wanted to let you know what you can expect. First, we will be communicating on a regular basis with our membership. Expect to see regular news e-mails on the 2nd Wednesday of each month. Additionally, we plan to send any other announcements and updates on the 4th Wednesday of each month. On occasion, we may send out e-mails outside of these two times, but our goal is to provide consistent communication to all of our members.

We’ve been busy working on a lot of different ideas for this year and will be excited to share more details at our first meeting on September 19th. As you read earlier this month, one of my goals this year is to highlight some newer locations around campus. I’m in the process of finalizing our meeting location for September, so please pay attention to your e-mails. That said, we have confirmed that Mike Zeleny, Associate to the Chancellor, will be our guest for the first meeting, so please plan to come. Our first meeting will give us an opportunity to have everyone introduce themselves, learn about our exciting events we have planned ahead, and also hear from Mike about campus updates and initiatives that impact staff. Please accept the calendar invites that we will be sending out before each meeting. We hope to have these sent a few weeks in advance.

We still have a few positions that we are looking to fill two positions (Programs Chair and Founder’s Day Chair). If you or someone you know may be interested in helping provide leadership to UAAD, please reach out to me. I’d love to visit more.

Finally, as I mentioned in our first newsletter, please send us feedback, suggestions, ideas, and questions to our new e-mail account: uaad@unl.edu. Our team will be sure to review your e-mail and respond (if needed). Additionally, make sure to stay up-to-date on all of our happenings through our social media outlets. We have Facebook, Instagram, Twitter, and LinkedIn!

Join fellow UAAD members over your lunch break at the People's City Mission (PCM) Help Center, noon to 12:30 p.m., Thursday, September 27, 2018. PCM staff will give a tour of the Help Center, provide an overview of the work done there, and talk about the ways in which you can volunteer your time there. Additional ways that you can help out in other areas of the PCM outreach will be discussed such as: writing encouragement cards, giving water donations, packing sack lunches, distributing Thanksgiving food baskets, and assisting with year-end inventory.
