Thank you to everyone who was able to participate in our first general membership meeting last week. We had a great turn-out.

The beginning of the meeting started with introductions of everyone present and an ice breaker (human bingo) led by Sara Weixelman (co-chair of professional development committee). We are extremely thankful to the Associate to the Chancellor, Mike Zeleny for sharing his time with us and giving us updates on where the university is headed this year along with a university history lesson. Mike provided great information on some of the important upcoming university events while inserting a fair amount of humor to his talk. Specifically, he noted the work of the N150 commission and that UAAD will have an opportunity to participate in another listening session (similar to the one we were invited to in April) to hear and share feedback before the documents are finalized. One particular sub-committee he spent time on was the committee on Campus Community and Faculty and Staff Roles. He reiterated to those present how important the staff are to the foundation of the work that happens at our university. Some other exciting information he shared with regards to our sesquicentennial celebration included the state of the university address being moved to January, the opening of the newest addition to Morrill Hall, a special concert at the Lied and some exciting events that will happen in conjunction with the State Fair and the 2019 Homecoming Celebration.
