We are about a week away from Thanksgiving, a time where we take a moment to give thanks for many things in our lives. As we approach Thanksgiving, I want to say a special thanks to all of you who have made UAAD part of your professional development and networking enrichment activities this year. UAAD provides an opportunity for us as members to learn something, connect with someone, and grow in many ways. Our organization is only sustainable because of members such as yourselves. I hope you have found a way to attend and engage in some of our events this fall. Whether it has been our monthly membership meetings hearing, professional development, UAAD Connect, or community outreach events, we’ve had a number of opportunities to come together this fall. We still have opportunities for people to get involved within the variety of committees that UAAD has. If you are interested in participating in any way, please contact me directly at tlazarowicz2@unl.edu. I’d love to see how we can connect you more within UAAD.
I want to extend a special thanks to Stephanie Vendetti and Kelsey Buck for arranging this month’s community outreach event, which helped serve meals to participants at the Mourning Hope Grief Center at the beginning of the month. It is still not too late to donate to help offset the costs of this donation. If you do want to donate, please write a check to UAAD or bring cash to our upcoming general membership meeting.
I also want to extend a special thanks to Becky Carter for helping us arrange a joint happy hour with the UNL Young Professional Network, the UNL Multicultural Young Professional Network and The UNL Academic Advising Association. This event was well attended and gave us an opportunity to share more about UAAD with people who were not familiar with our group. We’d love to have more members, so I encourage you to invite your friends and colleagues to join you at an upcoming meeting or event.
