Students wanting to connect with CAST can schedule a one-on-one coaching session with a CAST Academic Success Coach. Coaches get to know the students, supporting them as they work towards their goals and troubleshoot issues they might be facing in classes or on campus. When a student meets with a coach, they’ll create an action plan that will help them develop new skills and strategies they can use to be successful and thrive.
The most common topics coaches support students with are time management, study skills, test preparation, reading strategies, and note-taking. Students can also receive support on stress management, procrastination, and motivation.
Students can schedule a coaching session through MyPLAN, stopping by the CAST office in Love Library South 110, or by calling 402-472-1880. Coaches are available for in-person and on Zoom coaching sessions Monday through Friday. Students can also visit with CAST every Monday on East Campus by appointment.
Academic Success Workshops are free and open to all students. Seats are available on a first-come, first-served basis. Workshops cover a variety of topics to assist students through their transition to college and success in the classroom, and how to make the most out of their UNL experience.
Workshops are available Wednesdays at 5:00 pm in Love Library South 221. International student workshops are available Thursdays at 5:00 pm in Love Library South 221. A full list of workshop topics is available on the CAST website.
Study Stop is a free tutoring program available to support students looking for assist in a class or needing a space to work. Students can meet one-on-one with a learning consultant for extra help or attend a drop-in session for general coursework support and to learn academic success strategies.
Study Stop is available Monday through Friday from 8:00 am – 5:00 pm by appointment. Appointments can be scheduled through MyPLAN. Drop-in tutoring is available Monday through Thursday from 5:00 – 8:00 pm, location to be announced soon.
