Every year, many of us set goals, intentions, or even pick a mantra for the year. For the Retention Leaders Council, 2025 is the year of supporting transfer students! RLC is excited to focus on new and innovative ways to support Transfer students on our campus, including special events and a new newsletter. We encourage you to share these resources and events with your transfer students.
Transfer Connection Newsletter
We have seen substantial student engagement with messaging to transfer students via the CRM. Based on this, we are increasing touchpoints with transfer students as analytics indicate they appreciate the outreach and value receiving messaging targeted to their unique needs. Transfer students will receive three newsletter-esque messages per semester: the first was Amy Goodburn’s pre-term welcome message via the CRM, the second was sent on February 24, and the third will go out on March 24. Based on student response and engagement with the newsletter, we may revisit the number of issues and timing for fall 2025 semester.
If you have content to share with transfer students, we invite you to submit it to the newsletter! Content will generally be capped at 8-10 entries, as we are prioritizing including timely, highly relevant information in these newsletters.
To submit content, you can either do so via the Transfer Connect newsroom in the Announce system or email it to Lydia Coulson (lcoulson2@unl.edu) directly. Please submit content for the March 24 issue by EOD Tuesday, March 18.
Transfer Collective Events
University Libraries and CAST are collaborating to offer a new event series for transfer students: Transfer Collective: Study, Connect, Succeed.
The Transfer Collective is a new initiative specifically designed for transfer students, offering a space to study, collaborate, and gain access to valuable campus resources. Held on February 27, March 27, and April 24 from 11:30 AM to 2 PM in the Love Library South Witt Room (LS 224), these sessions create an inclusive environment where transfer students can work alongside peers while receiving support from Libraries staff and Transfer Peer Mentors from the Center for Academic Success and Transition. This is the perfect opportunity to focus on coursework, ask questions about academic resources, and network with other transfer students in a supportive space.
Plus, Dunkin' Donuts coffee will be provided to keep students fueled during study sessions!
