New Anthropology Courses for Spring 2016

Two new courses will be offered in the Spring (Please see flyers on aaa.unl.edu). Both are online and have recently been ACE certified. As the courses touch on our local region, they might be a really good opportunity for students to learn about Nebraska, its place in the world, and the people who have called it home.

NRES 130 Peoples of the Plains summary of the different populations who have called the Great Plains home

Topics covered : Paleoindians hunting mammoth during the Ice Age through to Plains Farmers battling the Dustbowl
Weekly work: readings and online discussion questions
Learning assessments: several experiential activities designed to help them experience unique aspects of Great Plains culture.
Materials: no textbook; I will provide readings from journal articles and edited volumes

NRES 289 People and the Land: Human Environmental Interactions on the Great Plains examination of different conditions of life on the Great Plains through time within an ecological framework

Weekly Work: readings and online discussion
Learning Assessments: Content Mastery Assignment- an Essay- at the end of each module; Final Annotated Bibliography on topic of student choice
Materials: no textbook; I will provide readings from journal articles and edited volumes
