FYE - Grit, Growth mindset, and High Achieving High School Students Workshop - April 21

Grit, Growth mindset, and High Achieving High School Students
April 21, 12:00-1:00PM, Colonial A, City Union; Presented by Megan Schaefer

One group of students at-risk for not making it to graduation are students who come to UNL as high achieving high school students. This workshop will discuss a potential factor in a lower retention rate for this group of students: grit. Grit is defined as “the tendency to sustain interest in an effort toward very long-term goals” (Duckworth, 207). Then, we will shift to discussing growth mindset, a way we as faculty and staff can promote increased grit. You will leave this workshop with ideas of how you can measure and promote grit and growth in the students you work with who were high achieving in high school.
