April can be a frantic time for students. With finals and summer approaching, there's a lot to do and a lot more to prepare for. Fortunately, Career Services is here to help with three special events this month!
For students still searching for a job or internship, Meet the Nonprofits and Hire Big 10+Virtual Career Fair are both great opportunities to greet and meet with potential employers. Meet the Nonprofits will give students valuable insight into the dynamic and rewarding world of nonprofits, all while connecting them with professionals currently working in the field. They could even walk away with connections to a new opportunity in their community! Encourage any interested students to attend the event on April 2 from 1 to 2:30 p.m. in the Nebraska Union Ballroom.
The Hire Big 10+ Virtual Career Fair gives students the chance to meet with employers from across the country all from the comfort of their home. All they have to do is register for the event, and from there they can schedule virtual meetings with online representatives from distinguished companies. Opportunities for internships, jobs and co-ops are available. The event takes place on April 10 from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m., and students can register at any time for free at http://www.careereco.com/events/hirebig10. If students need a quiet place to interview through the event, Career Services offers first-come, first-served interview rooms students can reserve by contacting the office.
As students transition from academic life to the professional world, their everyday uniforms of hoodies and sweats are often replaced with more work appropriate pieces, but we all know how expensive that can be! That is why Career Services has teamed up with JCPenney for Husker Suit-UP. At this one-night event, Nebraska students exclusively will be able to shop at JCPenney and receive an extra 40% off of career apparel. This discount applies to regular, sale and clearance items, meaning attendees can receive up to 70% off of their total purchase. Nebraska faculty and staff can benefit from the event as well. So, let your students know about this unique opportunity and take advantage of it yourself on April 7 from 6:30 to 9:30 p.m. at the JCPenney in Gateway Mall.
