Rachel Adams, the chief curator and director of programs at the Bemis Center for Contemporary Arts in Omaha, will present her lecture on Wednesday, March 9.

Adams’ areas of interest are varied, but always focus on creating meaningful connections for artists. She focuses on the crossover between contemporary art and architecture, performance and video and new media practices.
Her past curatorial appointments include Senior Curator at UB Art Galleries, Curator-in-Residence at Disjecta Contemporary Art Center, and Associate Curator at Arthouse at the Jones Center (now The Contemporary Austin).
In 2018, Adams curated “Ernesto Burgos: Implications;” “BRACHA: Pietà—Eurydice—Medusa;” and co-curated “Introducing Tony Conrad: A Retrospective,” the first posthumous exhibition of Tony Conrad’s work at the University at Buffalo Art Galleries with the Albright Knox Art Gallery.
Her 2017 exhibition, “Wanderlust: Actions, Traces, Journeys 1967–2017”—a 50-year survey of artists performing in the landscape—was awarded grants from The Andy Warhol Foundation for the Visual Arts and the National Endowment for the Arts with a catalogue by MIT Press.
Adams holds a Master of Arts degree in exhibition and museum studies from the San Francisco Art Institute and a Bachelor of Fine Arts degree from the School of the Art Institute of Chicago.
Her forthcoming projects include exhibitions with Maya Dunietz in 2022 and the group exhibition, “Presence in the Pause.”
