Nov. 16th, Faculty-led edcuation abroad info. session for "The Visual Arts in London and Paris"

"The Visual Arts in London and Paris" is a faculty led education abroad experience that takes students to England and France between the dates of May 6-26, 2019.

Course instructor, Sandra Williams, will be hosting a general information session at 5:30 p.m. on Friday, Nov. 16th in Richards Hall 104.

This general information session includes information on daily itinerary, credit generated, assignments, budget and scholarships available, and travel apps that save money on plane fare.

Students participating in this class can expect to:
• Truly develop an understanding of works of art and the historical and social conditions that contributed to their creation by studying the actual works on site.
• Experience a broad range of art including street art tours. See works by internationally recognized street artists such as Banksy, Invader, Swoon, Shepard Fairey and C215.
• Learn about the arts through cultural experiences: attend a musical such as The Book of Mormon, meet with a fromager to taste cheese and learn about the art behind making this major export of France, and take photographs of architectural features of Paris such as Notre Dame, Le Grand Palais, Pont Alexander and the Eiffel Tower as seen from a river boat cruise.
• Understand and discuss the geographically close but socially distant cultures of England and France and analyze through personal experience how this influences anything ranging from art and global politics.
