The Capstone Exhibition takes place annually each spring and fall semester and highlights the highest achievements from the degree pursuits of graduating undergraduate students. This semester’s edition offered a few extra challenges.

As we continue to practice social distancing, we couldn’t let all the work in preparation of this Capstone go unseen. Originally set to take place in display spaces across the first and second floors of Richards Hall, this exhibition morphed into a rapid-turnaround, virtual gallery experience that includes works by students in seven areas of study: Art History, Ceramics, Drawing & Painting, Graphic Design + Illustration, Photography, Printmaking and Sculpture.

Despite the jarring effects of this global pandemic, these 45+ students found incredible ways to adapt—many re-designing or modifying their process or projected outcome— as they worked remotely toward their goal of an exhibition experience that exemplifies the culmination of their research and the professional skillsets obtained while in our program.

What resulted is an impressive effort by a group of hardworking staff, students, and supporters who think we all deserve a little positivity in these dark times.
