• Jan. 25: Beethoven's Costume Party: The Diabelli Variations with Guest Artist Eldred Marshall, piano. 7:30 p.m. Westbrook Music Building Rm. 119. Free and open to the public.

• Jan. 26: Faculty Recital featuring Diane Barger, clarinet; Mark Clinton, piano; and Nathan Koch, bassoon. 7:30 p.m. Westbrook Recital Hall Rm. 119. The concert will also be live webcast. • Feb. 3: Winter Festival. All-day. Westbrook Music Building. The Winter Festival for Winds and Percussion is a unique concert band and chamber ensemble festival for high school students (freshmen, sophomores, juniors, and seniors). The festival is designed to give participants an outstanding and comprehensive playing experience. Festival participants are chosen through a recorded audition process. Students attending the festival are involved in three different ensembles: an honor band; a chamber ensemble, coached by one of the Glenn Korff School of Music’s talented applied wind and percussion faculty; and a large symphonic band that combines the festival honor band with the University of Nebraska–Lincoln Wind Ensemble. Students also participate in a masterclass with the applied wind and percussion faculty.

• Feb. 15: Hixson-Lied Visiting Artist Lecture: Jay Kreimer. 5:30 p.m. Richards Hall Rm. 15. Free and open to the public. Kreimer is an improvising musician, instrument inventor and sound artist. He has been creating new musical instruments for nearly 30 years. He performs internationally, throughout North America, across Europe and in China and in India.
