• April 26: Campus Orchestra. 7:30 p.m. Bethany Christian Church in Lincoln. Free and open to the public.

• April 26: Jazz Orchestra. 7:30 p.m. The Jewell, located at the Omaha Marriott downtown, 1030 Capitol Ave. Free and open to the public.

• April 27: Hixson-Lied Visiting Artist Lecture: Josephine Halvorson. 5:30 p.m. Richards Hall Rm. 15. Free and open to the public. Halvorson makes art that foregrounds firsthand experience and takes the form of painting, sculpture, and printmaking. In 2021, she was awarded a John Simon Guggenheim Fellowship. She is professor of art and chair of graduate studies in painting at Boston University.

• April 27: Hixson-Lied Visiting Artist Ryan Anderson Workshop. 7 p.m. Woods Art Building Rm. 105. Free and open to the public. Graphic designer Ryan Anderson has worked in the advertising industry for more than 25 years. His background is in creative—specifically creative direction, art direction and design. However, he's had the opportunity to lead all aspects of advertising agencies from top to bottom. He helped build those agencies into creative powerhouses, garnering the top creative awards in the industry all while creating year-over-year agency growth. During the workshop, students in the graphic design program of the School of Art, Art History & Design will show their work and get feedback from Anderson.

• April 28: IGNITE featuring Melanie Coombs. 12:30-1:50 p.m. Johnny Carson Center for Emerging Media Arts. Free and open to the public. At this IGNITE colloquium we will be hearing from Melanie Coombs, an award-winning producer of animation, documentary and dramatic film and television. Her awards include the Academy Award for "Harvie Trumpet," the Asia Pacific Screen Award for "Mary and Max" and the AFI Award for "Break and Enter." Coombs was also the production supervisor and co-producer on the Academy Award-winning stopmotion animated feature film, Guillermo del Toro's "Pinocchio."

• May 3: Opera Scenes Performance. 4:30 p.m. Westbrook Music Building Rm. 119. Free and open to the public. This performance is the final project for the Intermediate/Advanced Opera Techniques course.

• May 3-7: Nebraska Repertory Theatre presents "The Play That Goes Wrong." Performances are May 3-6 at 7:30 p.m. and May 7 at 2 p.m. in the Howell Theatre. For tickets and more information, visit https://nebraskarep.org. It’s opening night for a 1920s-style murder mystery, "The Murder at Haversham Manor." But when the curtain goes up, the performance quickly goes from bad to utterly disastrous. With an unconscious leading lady, a corpse that can’t play dead and actors who trip over everything (including their lines), "The Play That Goes Wrong" is an unforgettable evening of laughter.

Featuring Kearney native Jon Bokenkamp (Creator Writer/Producer of NBC's "The Blacklist" and show runner of a new Apple TV series) and UNL Theatre and Journalism grad Todd Nelson (CBS/Paramount Producer and Founder of Nebraska Coast Connection).
