Nebraska National exhibition opens Sept. 5

The third annual Nebraska National Collegiate Juried Art Exhibition will open on Sept. 5 and continue through Sept. 25 at the Eisentrager-Howard Gallery in Richards Hall.

An opening reception will be held on First Friday, Sept. 5 from 6-8 p.m. in the gallery with awards announced at 7 p.m.

The Nebraska National Collegiate Juried Exhibition features the work of the best undergraduate student artists from across the country.

Each year three different media disciplines are featured. This year's exhibition includes ceramics, photography and printmaking.

More than 75 artists have been accepted into this year's exhibition, including 14 from the University of Nebraska–Lincoln:

• Jeffrey Oliver, ceramics
• Scott Sampson, printmaking
• Dimitri Titov, printmaking
• Toan Vuong, printmaking

Jurors this year include:

Ceramics: Bobby Silverman, director of ceramics at 92nd Street Y in New York City.

Photography: Jeff Whetstone, assistant professor of art, University of North Carolina.

Printmaking: Rosalyn Richards, professor of art, Bucknell University.

The Howard Awards for Excellence will be presented at the opening reception. There will be four awards, including three $1,000 awards for first place in each category and a $1,500 grand prize.

Gallery hours are Monday-Friday from 12:30-4:30 p.m. The Eisentrager-Howard Gallery is located on the first floor of Richards Hall at Stadium Drive and T sts. on the UNL city campus. Admission is free and open to the public.
