Dec. 1-5: "Making History" exhibition. Eisentrager-Howard Gallery in Richards Hall. First Friday reception on Friday, Dec. 5 from 5-7 p.m. in the Gallery. This exhibition showcases the work of the "Making History" ceramics class and will explore the relationships of objects across time periods and cultures.

Dec. 2: Percussion Ensemble. 7:30 p.m. Kimball Recital Hall. Tickets: $5 general and $3 students/seniors. The program includes repertoire by Varese, Reich and Thierry de mey. The program will also include Jake Remington’s tour de force for percussion orchestra Prelude to Paradise and regional premieres of Mechanical Ballet by Anders Coppel and tilted spheres by Dave Hall.

Dec. 3: Campus Orchestra. 7:30 p.m. Kimball Recital Hall. Tickets: $5 general and $3 students/seniors. This ensemble is open to string-playing university students from across the campus. The overseeing faculty member is Dr. Tyler White, Director of University Orchestras. The conductors are graduate conducting students Canes Nicolas and David Galant, and they will lead the ensemble in performance of works by Mozart, Tchaikovsky, Handel, LeRoy Anderson and a Haitian folk song arranged by John Jost.

Dec. 3: Sax Ensembles. 7:30 p.m. Westbrook Music Building Rm. 119. Free. The Saxophone Studio presents its fall ensembles concert featuring works for saxophone choir, for Supersax ensembles and for jazz quartet. This concert will feature works by Bryd, Bach, Schmidt, Parker, Varga and more.

Dec. 4: Wind Ensemble. 7:30 p.m. Kimball Recital Hall. Tickets: $5 general and $3 students/seniors. What would happen if you could transport a Renaissance dancing master into the 21st century? And what would Shakespeare’s star-crossed lovers sound like if they were wooing in the modern era? Join the wind ensemble as they overlay past and present in a program featuring Jacob’s classic “William Byrd Suite,” Hesketh’s new “Danceries, Set II,” Prokofiev’s dramatic suite from “Romeo and Juliet,” and Tchaikovsky’s zany “Dance of the Jesters.”

Dec. 4-7: Theatrix presents "Wildflower" by Lila Rose Kaplan. Directed by Jessie Debolt. Performances are 7:30 p.m. Dec. 4-6 and 2 p.m. Dec. 7 in the Lab Theatre, which is located on the third floor of the Temple Building. Tickets are $6 and available online at http://unltheatretickets.com and one hour prior to the performances on the third floor of Temple.

Dec. 5: Chamber Singers. 5 p.m. Sheldon Museum of Art. Free.

Dec. 5: E.N. Thompson Forum on World Issues presents a lecture by Yo-Yo Ma. 7:30 p.m. Lied Center for Performing Arts. Tickets are available at http://www.liedcenter.org or at the Lied Center Box Office, (402) 472-4747. UNL Students can obtain free tickets to the lecture at http://marketplace.unl.edu/liedcenter. In this lecture, Yo-Yo Ma will address the vital role of culture and the arts and sciences in our society and the ways in which each of us – both cultural workers and general audiences – can come together to work as “cultural citizens.”

Dec. 5-6: UNL Fine Art Photo club Fall Print Sale and Raffle. Richards Hall Rm. 121. Hours are 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. each day. There will be lots of student work for sale starting at $20, and different prizes to win in the raffle.

Dec. 5-6: Student Dance Project. 7:30 p.m. Mabel Lee Hall Rm. 304 (14th and Vine sts.). Tickets: $5 general and $3 students/seniors. Directed by Susan Levine Ourada and featuring a program of original work by student choreographers.

Dec. 10: Chamberfest. 7:30 p.m. Westbrook Rm. 119. Free. The ChamberFest Concert will feature student ensembles from UNL’s Chamber Music Program. Please join us for an exciting tour as students perform chamber works from many time periods and places.

David Neely, violin, Karen Becker, cello, and Ann Chang, piano, join with the Symphony Orchestra in Beethoven’s Triple Concerto, on an all-Beethoven program featuring the composer’s Wellington’s Victory and his Symphony No. 7 in A major.

Dec. 12: Musical Theatre Showcase. 7:30 p.m. Westbrook Rm. 119. Free.

Dec. 12-13: Fall Ceramics Sale sponsored by the UNL Clay Club. Richards Hall Rm. 118. Sale hours are 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. on Dec. 12 and 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Dec. 13. Raffle tickets will also be available.

Dec. 13-14: UNL Honors Chamberfest. 7:30 p.m. Kimball Recital Hall. Free. The Honors ChamberFest Concert will feature the most advanced student ensembles from UNL’s Chamber Music Program. The ensembles were selected by faculty from over 20 ensembles to represent the excellent work that is going on in the program. The Dec. 14 concert will also be webcast.
