Two student playwrights from the Johnny Carson School of Theatre and Film have been selected to participate in the Region V Festival 48 Kennedy Center American College Theater Festival National Playwriting Program January 17-23, 2016, at Normandale Community College in Bloomington, Minnesota.

A junior theatre major in performance, Michelle Ingle’s 10-minute play “Boxed Wine” was selected as one of six from a field of 81 submissions to be performed at the festival. Nolan Sullivan’s 10-minute play “Love at Lightspeed” will receive honorable mention. Sullivan is a senior English major.

Each year Region V invites 10-minute plays (usually six) to be performed at its regional festival. For 10-minute plays, writers work closely with student directors, dramaturgs and faculty mentors at the festival, and each is staged as a “stools and stands” concert reading in the Ten-Minute Play Festival, held at the end of the festival week. Two winning 10-minute plays are then selected as National Semi-finalist plays to be considered for an invitation to the national festival in Washington, D.C., in April 2016.
