• Matt Schaich (B.A. and B.S. 2014), has received the prestigious Madison and Lila Self Graduate Fellowship from Kansas University, which has a value of $120,000. Schaich was a double major at UNL in piano and biochemistry. His faculty member, Scribante Professor of Music Paul Barnes said, "One of the most critical elements in his selection was the fact that he was a piano major and traveled with me to Vienna for the Vienna International Piano Academy. The selection committee knew that his musical training made him an exceptional scientist and researcher."
• Michael Shahani (B.M. 1982) was featured in the Feb. 29, 2016, Petaluma Argus-Courier (California) for his role as director of the Cinnabar Singers, a chorale group associated with Petaluma's Cinnabar Theater. Read the article at http://go.unl.edu/qnim.
