The School of Art, Art History & Design presents the “2017 Biennial Faculty Exhibition” on display now through Feb. 3 in the Eisentrager-Howard Gallery in Richards Hall. For the first time, the exhibition will include faculty research from all three areas of the School—Studio Art, Art History and Graphic Design.
A closing reception will be held on First Friday, Feb. 3 from 5-7 p.m. in the Gallery. The event is free and open to the public.
“This exhibition acquaints the University and public with the remarkable research being produced by our esteemed faculty,” said School of Art, Art History & Design Director Robert Ladislas Derr. “The diversity of research tantalizes with an exciting display of concepts and techniques. From antiquity to the times in which we live, our artists, historians and designers discover, imagine and take us to the possibilities.”
In addition to the exhibition, the School of Art, Art History & Design has created the Curator, Critic, Collector Panel Discussion Series, which will also be held in the Eisentrager-Howard Gallery. The distinguished curator, critic and collector will each select the work of three faculty from the exhibition for a one-hour, informal conversation beginning at 2 p.m.
The remaining schedule includes:
• Jan. 26: L. Kent Wolgamott, art critic for the Lincoln Journal-Star
• Feb. 1: Kathy and Marc LeBaron, respected Lincoln art collectors
“There is no telling what will be discussed, but one thing is certain, these discussions are sure to leave us thinking,” Derr said.
The exhibition and Curator, Critic, Collector Panel Discussion Series are both free and open to the public. Gallery hours for the exhibition are Monday-Friday, 12:30 to 4:30 p.m.
