Dr. Stanley V. Kleppinger has been named acting associate dean of the Hixson-Lied College of Fine and Performing Arts. He will continue teaching part-time in the Glenn Korff School of Music as associate professor of music theory.
He begins his duties as acting associate dean on Monday, Aug. 6.
“I look forward to working with Stan this year in his role as acting dean,” said Chuck O’Connor, endowed dean of the Hixson-Lied College. “He is a valued colleague and has taught in the Glenn Korff School of Music since 2007. In addition to his teaching and research experience, he has coordinated the second-year undergraduate curriculum in music theory and aural skills and designed new courses. He brings a wealth of experience to this critical position assisting the college in the critical area of student affairs.”
As acting associate dean, Kleppinger’s responsibilities will include: oversight of curriculum; administering the Hixson-Lied grants program; coordinating ACE assessment; responding to student affairs issues; coordinating Student Advisory Boards; overseeing review of academic distinction; reviewing Education Abroad proposals; reviewing summer sessions proposals; reviewing course and lab fee proposals; and serving on College and University committees as appropriate to these duties.
Kleppinger holds a Ph.D. and a master’s degree in music theory from Indiana University and a bachelor’s degree in music education from Drake University. Associate Dean Christopher Marks will continue to handle faculty affairs in his reduced role as Associate Dean, while he continues his service as Interim Director of the Johnny Carson School of Theatre and Film this year.
