Unfinished features the work of Nebraska artist, David F. Routon. Routon draws and paints the human figure, working both from direct observation and from photographs. He pulls subject matter from old photographs, from the footage of motion pictures, and from life. His images are complex and painstakingly thought out and vary in degrees of what some might consider completion: some are fully rendered, others are suggested in varying degrees of incompleteness.

David F. Routon has influenced generations of artists, not only through his teaching, but through his own work. He retired from the University of Nebraska in 1997, and currently resides in Lincoln.
