A team of Nebraska Extension Educators and presenter Dr. Pat Reece, a consultant for Prairie and Montane Enterprises, will be hosting a pasture lease workshop in Rushville, NE on September 17th. This free event, sponsored by the World Wildlife Fund & Nebraska Extension will begin at 10 a.m. (MT) at the Security First Insurance Conference Room, 110 E. 2nd St., Rushville and end at 5 p.m. Topics of discussion include: determining fair market value of forage, the effects of overgrazing pasture, plant identification and range monitoring, the importance of proper stocking rates, formulating and terminating a lease agreement, and the development of a drought plan. A rancher panel will conclude the event, with producers from Sheridan county and surrounding areas speaking on pasture lease agreements.
