…For the annual ASA Datafest competition in which 10 teams of 2-4 undergraduate and graduate students analyze a large, complex, real world data set provided by industry partners (TBA at the event).

Datafest 2017: Making sense of Big Data, currently, includes nine universities participating across the country including UCLA, Duke, Purdue, Middlebury, Vassar, Wesleyan University, Villanova, UMass and Miami University (OH).
During the 48 hour event (beginning Friday evening and concluding Sunday afternoon), teams present data to a panel of judges (TBA) for Best in Show, Best Visualization, Best use of external data (prizes TBA).
Previous data sets have been provided by the Los Angeles police department, Kiva.org, EHarmony.com, Gridpoint and Edmunds.com.
