Nebraska Data Analytics workshop strengthens interdisciplinary informatics at UNL

Nebraska Data Analytics, NeDA 2017, organized by Informatics & Algorithmic Foundations Faculty (IAF) and sponsored by the Department of Computer Science and engineering (CSE), drew faculty from across campus in early April to explore opportunities, emerging challenges, and novel solutions for new collaborations in research, education, and outreach.

The event which included a welcome by Deb Hamernik, Interim Associate Vice Chancellor for Research at UNL and chaired by IAF faculty, focused on current methodologies in informatics, algorithms, statistics and data analytics and their applications in various disciplines. Keynote speaker, Shashi Shekhar, McKnight Distinguished University Professor, Department of Computer Science, University of Minnesota presented ‘Spatial Data Science: Interdisciplinary Experiences’.

The free conference provided perspectives on the science of processing data for storage and retrieval and current informatics and data analytics activities in Physical Sciences, Life Sciences & Agriculture, Engineering & Agriculture and Humanities, Business Social Sciences & Education at UNL.

This was the 2nd annual event hosted by the Wick Alumni Center.
