Over the 2018 Spring semester, the Quantitative Life Sciences Initiative worked with Agricultural and Environmental Sciences Communication students to highlight the importance of data science. In all, students produced ten podcasts with UNL colleagues in the field whose work centers around big data.

In this episode of Streaming Science Dr. Jennifer Clarke, Director of the Quantitative Life Sciences Initiative (QLSI) at the University of Nebraska Lincoln is interviewed by AESC undergraduate student, Hannah Borg. Have you ever heard the term ‘big data’ and didn’t really know exactly what it is? This is the podcast for you then. Dr. Clarke and Hannah Borg dive deeper into what ‘big data’ is and even what does ‘big data’ look like? Dr. Clarke talks about what QLSI is doing and how it is helping production agriculture among other subjects like how is she changing the traditional stereotype of a scientist.
