Two of our faculty members were awarded grants recently. Dr. Forrest Kievit, assistant professor in BSE, will be working on a joint project with UNMC. Dr. Joe Luck, assistant professor in BSE will be working with Santosh Pitla, also an assistant professor in BSE. Congratulations!
Kievit's grant is entitled, "Nanoparticle-Mediated Treatment of Traumatic Brain Injury," and will be partnering with faculty at UNMC. Luck's project is called, "Next-Generation Spray Drift Mitigation via Field-Deployable, Real-Time Weather Monitoring and Novel Spray Nozzle Control Technologies" and is funded through the USDA NIFA program.
John Hay and Joe Luck submitted applications for promotion this year, and both were approved. Mark Riley stated, "next academic year Joe will be an Associate Professor with Continuous Appointment (Tenure) and John will become a Extension Educator...These promotions are are certainly well deserved!"
Naisargi Nitinkumar Dave, master's graduate student in BSE working with Aaron Mittelstet, earned first place in the 2017 Water for Food Conference Graduate Student Online Poster Competition. She has earned complimentary registration as well as a $1,000 prize. Continue reading…
Mumba Mwape, master's graduate student working with Derek Heeren, will present her master's thesis on Wednesday, April 5th at 9 am in 219 Chase Hall. Her thesis is entitled "Selection and Design of Irrigation Systems in Zambia."
