The Great Plains Network will be hosting a free workshop on the Open Science Framework, offered by the Center for Open Science, on June 1. The Open Science Framework was designed as a technology to assist those conducting quantitative research in making their results transparent, open, and reproducible. As noted below, the following workshop should be of special interest to graduate students and faculty in social, biological, chemical, and health sciences. It is free but requires registration.
the Center for Open Science is a non-profit organization that is funded by the National Science Foundation, National Institutes of Health, Sloan Foundation, DARPA and others to increase openness, integrity and reproducibility of research.

The Open Science Framework is an outstanding example of technology that can used to shape transparency, openness and reproducibility of scientific research results.

Topics covered:
• Project documentation
• Version control
• Pre-Analysis plans
• Open source tools like the Center for Open Science’s Open Science Framework to easily implement these concepts in a scientific workflow.

This workshop is aimed at graduate students and postdocs, across disciplines, who are engaged in quantitative research. The workshop does not require any specialized knowledge of programming. Participants will gain a foundation for incorporating reproducible, transparent practices into their current workflows.

The workshop is free, but requires registration. You may register online at http://conferences.k-state.edu/gpn-gwla/registration/
