A 2017 study by Adam Liska on the local and global climate effects of even limited nuclear strikes was quoted in a recent article by Gizmodo. This became a highlight for Nebraska in the National News in June 2018.

Yiqi Yang and his research on converting poultry feathers and waste garments into commercially viable textiles have been the subject of several articles from Nebraska Today, Nebraska in the National News, Just-Style.com, and Feedstuffs.

Amy Schmidt is part of a team that recently received $85,000 from the Nebraska Environmental Trust to study "Novel approaches for controlling nitrate leaching and protecting Nebraska groundwater." The Nebraska Farm Bureau featured the Department in their press release to KTIC 98.3 FM regarding the 2018 Agricultural Economic and Technology Summit. The Department is part of an education effort on current issues in agriculture relevant to Nebraska farmers.
