Title: Project Manager with the Nebraska Resource Project for Vulnerable Young Children

Where do you hail from:
I am born and raised in Lincoln, Nebraska. I spent a short period of time as a Jayhawk at the University of Kansas but ended up transferring to the University of Nebraska. I am an avid Huskers fan and particularly enjoy Husker Volleyball!

Who are your early influences/who inspired you most:
My grandma and grandpa on my dad’s side have been huge influences in my life. My grandpa worked tirelessly (and still does) to maintain our family business that makes a positive impact on our community. He strongly believes in treating his employees and their families like his own family and empowering them to take pride in the work they do. One of his biggest goals in life is to leave his community better than it was when he started working in it. He is philanthropic in nature and believes in giving back. My grandma gave everything she had to her children and grandchildren. She was the matriarch of our family and was the glue that held us all together. She believed when all else fails, you have your family to lean on and be there for you. She was the true definition of a Mama Bear! I work hard to instill their values in myself and my children.

What has been your greatest source of career satisfaction/proudest achievement:
Prior to this position, I worked exclusively in child welfare. I like to say it was my first ‘big girl job’. In 2014, I began working in the Lancaster County Family Drug Court program as the Supervisor. I am proud to say I was a part of the design and implementation of the program that has received national attention for its positive outcomes for children and families. Through this collaboration I created relationships with various stakeholders, and through our teamwork we were able to create something ‘cutting edge’ for child welfare. Additionally, we all learned to play ‘nice in the sandbox’ with each other, which is a very simple, yet meaningful, way to create positive change.

Family life/hobbies /community involvement:
I have been married to my husband since 2009, and we have two young sons (ages 1 ½ and 4). I learn new things as a parent every day and watching my two tiny humans grow into their own independent (yet very different) personalities. Being a parent is by far the toughest yet most rewarding job I’ve ever had (as cliché as that sounds – it’s true!).

The quotation I live my life by is......
