Name: Denise Packard
Job Title: Coordinated Entry Manager
Where do you hail from:
The large metropolis of Bruning, NE
What is it they say you do:
I’m still learning all the details. In a nutshell, help coordinate efforts to connect individuals with appropriate housing solutions.
Who are your early influences/who inspired you most:
My mom, Lola! She has not had the easiest walk in life, yet she persisted, held her faith, is NEVER angry (even though there are times she had reason to be), volunteers for a million projects to help others, and is the kindest woman on the face of the Earth. What more could I ask for as an inspiration?
What has been your greatest source of career satisfaction/ proudest achievement:
My proudest moments were being nominated and then receiving 2 awards – one was Human Service Individual of the Year by the Lincoln Homeless Coalition and the other was being nominated as Team Player of the year at my previous employer. Very cool because both are nominated by peers, which is a huge compliment, since I worked side by side some of the hardest working folks in the Lincoln community! I sure don’t deserve it more than any of them!
Family life/hobbies /community involvement:
I absolutely LOVE being a mom! I have a 6 year old girl, Mollie who is kind, smart, hilarious, and creative. I also have a 4 year old little guy, Oliver. He is a bundle of energy, loves to build and construct things, and of course he is ornery. During my free time, my husband and I are restoring a 105 year old home. I also love to cook, paint, read, and sew!
The quotation I live my life by is......
“Always be kinder than necessary because everyone is fighting some kind of battle.” Unknown
